The AAIP also responded swiftly to unexpected challenges, such as the wildfires, with temporary measures to support affected applicants.

Alberta Exceeds Nomination Target

In 2024, the AAIP issued 9,942 nominations, surpassing its federal allocation of 9,750 nominations. Candidates are then ranked based on the EOI points grid, and the highest-scoring applicants are invited to apply for provincial nomination.

If you receive a nomination, you can then submit a permanent residence application to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). For those applying through an Express Entry-aligned stream, receiving a nomination will give you an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly improving your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR.

Looking Ahead

As Alberta continues to grow and evolve, the AAIP remains a vital tool in attracting the talent needed to support its booming economy.
