As a result, <strong>not all eligible candidates will be processed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Who Will Be Prioritized in 2025?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nova Scotia will now focus on applicants who are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Already living and working in the province<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holding <strong>work permits expiring in 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Within this group, <strong>priority will be given<\/strong> to skilled workers in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Healthcare and Social Assistance (NAICS 62)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Construction (NAICS 23)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will also be assessed on factors like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Regional needs<\/strong> within Nova Scotia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Long-term settlement potential<\/strong> in the province<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">What About Candidates Outside Canada?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For applicants outside Canada:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Only those in healthcare, social assistance, or construction<\/strong> will be prioritized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Most other international applications will not be processed<\/strong> in 2025 unless employers are hiring under the <strong>Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)<\/strong> in:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trucking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science and technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">2026 Planning and Prioritization<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, Nova Scotia will again give preference to workers in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Healthcare<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Assistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction<br>&#8230;especially those <strong>already in Canada<\/strong> with <strong>expiring permits<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Why the Cut in PNP Applications?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy shift follows the federal government\u2019s decision to <strong>cut Canada\u2019s total PNP landing targets<\/strong> by <strong>50%<\/strong>, from <strong>110,000 in 2024<\/strong> to just <strong>55,000 in 2025 and 2026<\/strong>, as part of the <strong>Immigration Levels Plan 2025\u201327<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nova Scotia\u2019s combined allocation for the <strong>NS PNP and AIP dropped from 6,300 to 3,150<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other provinces like <strong>Ontario<\/strong> and <strong>British Columbia<\/strong> also adjusted or paused their PNP streams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Newfoundland and Labrador<\/strong> and <strong>New Brunswick<\/strong> managed to increase their allocations in return for <strong>accepting humanitarian migrants and asylum
