The announcement was made on <strong>September 2, 2025<\/strong> through an official government update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Why the Additional Nominations?<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The extra nomination spaces are intended to accommodate eligible applicants from the <strong>2025 intake periods<\/strong> who had applied but were not selected due to limited allocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will be assessed in order of their <strong>work permit expiration dates<\/strong>. Eligible candidates will be contacted directly by email and placed in the NTNP assessment queue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Caitlin Cleveland, Minister of Education, Culture and Employment<\/strong>, these additional spaces will support the territory\u2019s efforts to address <strong>labour shortages in critical industries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">About the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The NTNP provides multiple pathways for foreign nationals to obtain Canadian permanent residence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Employer-Driven Stream<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Entry Level \/ Semi-Skilled Occupations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skilled Worker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NWT Express Entry<br>\u27a1 Requires a valid <strong>job offer<\/strong> from a NWT employer.<br>\u27a1 Employers apply on behalf of candidates; individuals cannot apply directly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Francophone Stream<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tailored for French-speaking candidates.<br>\u27a1 Also requires a valid <strong>job offer<\/strong> from a NWT employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Business Stream<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Designed for entrepreneurs and investors.<br>\u27a1 Applicants can apply <strong>independently<\/strong> to start, purchase, or invest in a business in the NWT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">2025 NTNP Intake Periods<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First intake:<\/strong> February 27 \u2013 March 6, 2025<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second intake:<\/strong> July 2 \u2013 July 9, 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, the NTNP\u2019s allocation was <strong>cut in half<\/strong> for 2025 (300 in 2024 down to 150 in 2025).
