This means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All applicants must be able to apply directly through Job Bank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employers are obligated to <strong>review all applications<\/strong> submitted via Direct Apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure to comply could lead to a rejected LMIA application, significantly impacting an employer\u2019s ability to hire foreign workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Impact on Employers<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Previous Rules<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employers had to advertise positions for <strong>a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks<\/strong> on the Job Bank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least <strong>two additional recruitment methods<\/strong> were required (e.g., LinkedIn, company website).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enabling the Direct Apply option was not mandatory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Rules (Effective Immediately)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Direct Apply is now <strong>mandatory<\/strong> for all LMIA-based job postings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employers <strong>must review<\/strong> resumes from Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents submitted through Direct Apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ignoring applicants or disabling Direct Apply may lead to <strong>non-compliance<\/strong> and LMIA refusal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job Bank will impose <strong>restrictions<\/strong> on non-compliant postings, preventing employers from meeting the required 4-week advertising period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Direct Apply can also be applied retroactively to job postings already active on the Job Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Why the Change?<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The update is part of Ottawa\u2019s strategy to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure that employers <strong>genuinely consider Canadian and permanent resident applicants<\/strong> before hiring foreign workers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address long-standing criticisms of the <strong>Temporary Foreign Worker Program<\/strong>, including overuse and wage suppression concerns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the government\u2019s broader effort to <strong>reduce reliance on temporary residents<\/strong> due to pressures on housing and affordability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">LMIA Advertising Exemptions<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all LMIA-based roles require advertising.
