These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Healthcare professionals, medical students, and clinical laboratory workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patient attendants in nursing homes or geriatric facilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teachers and workers in primary or secondary schools or child-care centers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Domestic caregivers for children, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Daycare and nursery employees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agricultural workers who have lived or traveled in IME-listed countries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If your occupation involves direct or prolonged contact with people, or could impact public health, IRCC will typically require an IME before you are approved to work or study in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Who Is Exempt<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants generally do not need to complete an IME if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They plan to stay in Canada for less than six months, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They will not work in a public-facing or health-related occupation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, IRCC retains the right to request an IME in any case where there are potential public health concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Temporary Public Policy (Valid Until October 5, 2029)<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the current public policy, applicants may be exempt from completing a new IME if they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have applied for permanent or temporary residence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are currently living in Canada;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed an IME within the past five years; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their previous IME results indicated no risk to public health or safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This measure aims to streamline applications and reduce redundancy for repeat applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">About Immigration Medical Exams<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two types of IMEs conducted by IRCC-approved panel physicians:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Standard Medical Exam<\/strong> \u2013 Full medical evaluation for long-term or high-risk applicants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Streamlined Medical Exam<\/strong> \u2013 Simplified version for low-risk applicants or extensions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants receive medical instructions directly from IRCC after submitting their application, including timelines and exam details.
