{"id":808,"date":"2020-11-25T10:48:24","date_gmt":"2020-11-25T15:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cadimmigration.com\/?p=808"},"modified":"2020-12-08T15:19:57","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T20:19:57","slug":"newfoundland-and-labrador-introduced-a-new-immigration-pathway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cadimmigration.com\/?p=808","title":{"rendered":"Did Newfoundland and Labrador open a new immigration pathway?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On November 18, Newfoundland and Labrador\u2019s provincial government announced a new immigration pathway that will look to retain newcomers who already live in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the province is also looking to attract educated and highly skilled newcomers to stay in their province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new immigration pathway, Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador, under the\u00a0<span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-provincial-nominee-program.html\">Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(NLPNP) is going to focus on highly educated and hi<\/span>ghly skilled candidates with work experience in specialized industries such as technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program is expected to launch on January 2, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This move will look after the province\u2019s labour shortages in certain high-growth sectors. The new pathway comes as a response to employers\u2019 growing demand for skilled and experienced workers, the province says in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.nl.ca\/releases\/2020\/exec\/1118n02\/\">media release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who is eligible for the Priority Skills pathway?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masters or PhD graduates of Memorial University who graduated within the last three years with a degree related to information and communication technology, ocean technology, healthcare, agriculture and aquaculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, professionals with work experience in the following highly skilled high-demand occupations will be considered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Software Developer<\/li><li>Biomedical Engineer<\/li><li>UI\/UX Developer<\/li><li>Electrical Engineer<\/li><li>AI Developer<\/li><li>Mechanical Engineer<\/li><li>Python Developer<\/li><li>.NET Developer<\/li><li>Infrastructure Engineer<\/li><li>Security Specialist<\/li><li>Cloud Specialist<\/li><li>Bioinformatician<\/li><li>Computer Network Support<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants are required to demonstrate the language proficiency in English by taking one of the following language tests and scoring equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark level 5 or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/proving-english-language-ability-ielts.html\">International English Language Testing System<\/a>&nbsp;(IELTS),<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.celpip.ca\/\">Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program<\/a>&nbsp;(CELPIP).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other ways to immigrate to Newfoundland and Labrador<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLPNP is divided into five categories: Express Entry Skilled Worker category, Skilled Worker category, International Graduate category, International Entrepreneur category and the International Graduate Entrepreneur category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-labrador-express-entry-skilled-worker.html\">Express Entry Skilled Worker category<\/a>&nbsp;allows the province to nominate skilled workers through Canada\u2019s federal Express Entry system. Nominated individuals need to have job offers in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-and-labrador-skilled-worker-category.html\">Skilled Worker category<\/a>&nbsp;targets individuals who have received a job offer from an employer in the province. This category also targets those who are already working in the province on a valid work permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-and-labrador-international-graduate-category.html\">International Graduate category<\/a>&nbsp;is for recent graduates who are holders of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/post-graduation-work-permit-program.html\">Post-Graduate Work Permit<\/a>. They must have a job or a job offer in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-and-labrador-international-entrepreneur.html\">International Entrepreneur category<\/a>&nbsp;is for those who wish to settle in the province and start or purchase a business. Candidates are required to operate their business for one year in the province prior to applying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/newfoundland-and-labrador-international-graduate-entrepreneur.html\">International Graduate Entrepreneur category<\/a> provides a pathway to permanent residence for international graduates who wish to start or run a business within the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these five categories, individuals who wish to reside in Newfoundland and Labrador also have the option of applying through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/atlantic-immigration-pilot-program.html\">Atlantic Immigration Pilot<\/a>.
