New 2025 Income Requirements for Canada’s Super Visa: What Families Need to Know
Canada continues to offer the Super Visa as a vital pathway for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to reunite with their families for extended stays. With over 17,000 invitations recently issued under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) on July 28, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has also implemented new income thresholds for Super Visa eligibility effective July 29, 2025.
If you are planning to bring your loved ones to Canada for long visits, understanding these updated income requirements and visa conditions is essential.
What Is the Super Visa?
The Super Visa is a multi-entry temporary resident visa specifically for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Unlike standard visitor visas which allow only six-month stays, the Super Visa permits visits up to five years per entry, with the possibility to extend for an additional two years.
The Super Visa is valid for up to 10 years, depending on the validity of the applicant’s passport, allowing multiple entries during its period.
New 2025 Income Thresholds
As of July 29, 2025, the required minimum gross income for Super Visa sponsors has increased by 3.9% from the previous year. This ensures the sponsor has adequate financial means to support their visiting relatives.
Number of Family Members | 2025 Minimum Gross Income | 2024 Minimum Gross Income | % Increase |
---|---|---|---|
1 | $30,526 | $29,380 | 3.90% |
2 | $38,002 | $36,576 | 3.90% |
3 | $46,720 | $44,966 | 3.90% |
4 | $56,724 | $54,594 | 3.90% |
5 | $64,336 | $61,920 | 3.90% |
6 | $72,560 | $69,834 | 3.90% |
7 | $80,784 | $77,750 | 3.90% |
Each additional member | $8,224 | $7,916 | 3.89% |
