IRCC Holds Third Express Entry Draw of the Week, Targets French-Language Proficiency Candidates
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its third Express Entry draw of the week and fourth of the month, issuing 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates demonstrating French language proficiency.
For this latest round, candidates needed:
- A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 481
- An Express Entry profile created before 5:16 a.m. UTC on July 18, 2025
This draw follows two other Express Entry rounds earlier in the week:
- August 7 – Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw: 1,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 534
- August 6 – Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw: 225 ITAs, CRS cut-off 739
Express Entry Trends in 2025
So far this year, IRCC has issued 53,128 ITAs through the Express Entry system. The department’s selection focus has been on:
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws – 14 rounds held so far
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws – 8 rounds
- French-language proficiency draws – 4 rounds
- Healthcare and social services draws – 3 rounds
- Education category draws – 1 round
The largest single draw this year remains the March 21 French-language proficiency round, which invited 7,500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 379.
Recent Draw Highlights
- French language draws have been a key part of IRCC’s 2025 strategy, aimed at supporting Canada’s bilingualism goals and filling gaps in French-speaking communities across the country.
- Healthcare and social services draws continue to attract significant numbers, with the largest healthcare draw taking place on July 22 (4,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 475).
- CEC draws have seen CRS cut-offs ranging from 518 to 547 this year, reflecting higher competition among candidates with Canadian work experience.
With this week’s three consecutive draws, IRCC has demonstrated an aggressive and targeted approach to immigration selection in August, aligning with Canada’s labour market priorities and linguistic diversity commitments.
