Alberta Holds Biggest PNP Draw of 2025: Over 680 Invitations Issued in One Week
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has just conducted its largest provincial nomination draw of 2025, opening doors for hundreds of candidates hoping to secure permanent residence in Canada.
Between August 7 and August 15, Alberta issued a total of 683 invitations across three separate draws, targeting both temporary foreign workers and health care professionals.
The highlight was the August 12 Alberta Opportunity Stream draw, which invited 581 candidates with a minimum score of 70—making it the largest draw of the year so far.
In addition, Alberta held two smaller but important draws through its Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, a specialized stream designed to address the province’s shortage of medical professionals.
- On August 7, Alberta invited 39 health care candidates through the non-Express Entry stream with a minimum score of 53.
- On August 15, 63 candidates were invited under the Express Entry stream, requiring a minimum score of 56.
This brings the total number of AAIP invitations issued in 2025 to 3,251 out of 4,875 available nomination spots, leaving 1,624 more opportunities for candidates this year.
Summary of Draws (Aug 7 – Aug 15, 2025)
| Draw Stream | Minimum Score | Invitations Issued |
|---|---|---|
| Alberta Opportunity Stream | 70 | 581 |
| Healthcare Pathway – Non-Express Entry | 53 | 39 |
| Healthcare Pathway – Express Entry | 56 | 63 |
Why This Matters
- The Alberta Opportunity Stream focuses on temporary foreign workers already employed full-time in Alberta in eligible occupations.
- The Healthcare Pathway gives medical professionals with Alberta job offers a chance at PR, either through Express Entry (faster federal processing) or non-Express Entry (base PNP route).
- With 63,926 EOIs (Expressions of Interest) currently in Alberta’s selection pool, competition remains high—but this major draw signals Alberta’s commitment to welcoming skilled workers.
