Manitoba’s Latest Immigration Draw Invites Skilled Workers Under Strategic Recruitment

Manitoba continues to strengthen its labor force by inviting skilled workers through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The province held its second immigration draw of August on August 21, 2025, marking the 17th provincial draw of the year.

In this round, 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued to candidates under the Skilled Worker Stream, which includes the pathways Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas.

Key Results of the Draw

  • Total LAAs issued: 77
  • Lowest score (Expression of Interest Draw #252): 612
  • Express Entry-linked invitations: 18 candidates with a valid profile number and job seeker code
  • Stream: Skilled Worker Stream (includes Manitoba and Overseas categories)

Breakdown of Invitations Through Strategic Recruitment Initiatives:

  • Employer Services: 6 LAAs
  • Francophone Community: 29 LAAs
  • Regional Communities: 31 LAAs
  • Ethnocultural Communities: 11 LAAs

Why Were Some Eligible Candidates Not Selected?

The MPNP clarified that some applicants, despite meeting or exceeding the cut-off score, may not have received an invitation due to:

  • Submitting expired language test results or failing to provide valid test numbers.
  • Claiming an invitation through a strategic recruitment initiative but not including a valid invitation number in their Expression of Interest (EOI).

What Are Strategic Recruitment Initiatives?

Strategic recruitment initiatives are targeted programs that allow Manitoba to directly invite candidates who possess essential skills in demand. These initiatives are often supported by local employers, communities, or ethnocultural organizations and focus on filling critical labor shortages.

Employers who take part must:

  • Meet Manitoba’s recruitment eligibility criteria.
  • Go through the ABC Recruitment Process.
  • Provide details of qualified foreign nationals to Manitoba’s Employer Services.

Candidates selected under these initiatives benefit from faster processing and direct support for settlement, while Manitoba addresses workforce gaps in key industries.

Why This Draw Matters

This draw highlights Manitoba’s continued focus on strategic workforce planning. By prioritizing candidates tied to local employers and communities, Manitoba ensures:

  • A strong pipeline of skilled immigrants.
  • Support for regional and Francophone communities.
  • Enhanced opportunities for foreign nationals to settle and work in Canada’s central province.
