
News Report – September 2025: Express Entry Pool and Draw Updates
Express Entry pool trends show both rising competitiveness and declining profile numbers in August 2025. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted multiple draws, while the overall pool size decreased, especially among higher CRS score ranges. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
Express Entry Draws in August 2025
- A total of 6,417 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued across five draws.
- Draw types included:
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): Two draws with cut-offs at 739 and 800.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): One draw, cut-off at 534.
- French-language proficiency: One draw, cut-off at 481 (highest CRS score of the year for French draws).
- Healthcare and Social Services: One draw, cut-off at 470.
- August marked:
- 14th and 15th PNP draws of 2025
- 8th CEC draw
- 4th French-language draw
- 4th Healthcare & Social Services draw
Monthly ITA Trends in 2025
- August: 6,417 ITAs issued
- July: 7,558 ITAs issued (1,141 more than August)
- This makes August the fourth-lowest month in 2025 for ITAs, after January, April, and May.
- Year-to-date (Jan–Aug 2025): 55,820 ITAs issued, which is 23,143 fewer than the same period in 2024.
Current Express Entry Pool Distribution (as of August 17, 2025)
- Total candidates in pool: 254,113
- Drop of 2,472 candidates since August 5.
- The largest decrease was in the 481–600 CRS range, which saw 2,342 fewer profiles.
- CRS ranges with the biggest reductions:
- 481–490: –541 profiles
- 491–500: –566 profiles
- 501–600: –1,235 profiles
Competitiveness of the Express Entry Pool
- 21.04% of candidates fall within the 351–400 CRS range (largest group).
- 6.82% of candidates are in the 461–470 CRS range.
- 9.02% are in the 501–600 CRS range, mostly PNP nominees.
- Candidates scoring 471+ remain highly competitive, but fewer profiles exist in these upper ranges compared to earlier months.
