Regional Immigration Pilot

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Will Begin A Two-Year Regional Immigration Pilot In The Early 2020. The Regional Immigration Pilot Will Help Fill The Labour Market Needs Of Business In The Small And The Rural Communities That Are Thereby, Not Currently Being Met Locally.

While Developing The Pilot Program , the Feedback Was Gathered From The Stakeholders In A Number Of Small And Rural Communities Across The Entire Province. Hence, The Communities Were Chosen Based Upon The Specific Skilled Labour Challenges, The Ability To Get The New Comers Settled, And Interest From The Community Stakeholders.

Hence, The Community Selected For The Regional Immigration Pilot Are:

  • Belleville/Quinte West- A Regional Approach To An Area With A High- Level Of Regional Coordination And Engagement Among Economic Development And The Immigration Stakeholders.
  • Cornwall- It Holds An Opportunity To Work With A Very Engaged Francophone With High Employment Needs For The English And French Employers.
  • Chatham- Kent- It Is A Unique Rural And Small Urban Environment For The New Comers And A Highly Integrated “Welcoming Community”.

Thereby, The OINP Will Work Efficiently With The Local Stakeholders In The Three Pilot Communities In Order To Spread The Awareness Of The OINP.

Hence, The Work Will Include The I Person Training Sessions With The Local Employers, Informational Webinars Or The OINP Attendance At The Local Industry Or The Employer Events/Conferences.

The Pilot Program Will Also Include Approximately 150 Nominations Under The OINP Employer Job Offer Category Streams, Which Thereby Will Be  Reserved For The Applicants With The Job Offers In The Pilot Communities.

  1. Hi there I’m looking to become a Sonographer but I’m only 22. The rise of Trump has been extremely stressful on my years of studying in the US and as a US born citizen I want to escape to Canada where my only beloved friend also resides and is a born Canadian, is there any hope for me to settle in Canada with my lack of experience? It’s just not worth the risk to my mental health anymore to keep staying in the US. I just want some peace.
