Prince Edward Island Prioritizes Skilled Workers in Latest PNP Draw — 39 Invitations Issued for High-Demand Jobs

Prince Edward Island (PEI) continues to address critical labor shortages by extending new invitations through its Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). On July 17, 2025, the province issued 39 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to eligible foreign nationals with offers in in-demand occupations.

The draw is part of PEI’s focused immigration strategy for 2025, which emphasizes economic alignment and support for priority industries such as healthcare, trades, transportation, and food processing.

Who Was Invited?

Candidates were selected from the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams, based on factors such as job offer, relevant work experience, and sector demand.

To qualify for this round, candidates needed to meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time, permanent, non-seasonal job offer from a PEI employer in a priority occupation
  • Minimum 1 year of directly related work experience
  • Aged between 18–59 years
  • At least high school education
  • Language test results (CLB/NCLC level 4 or higher)
  • Sufficient financial means to support themselves and accompanying family members

Out-of-Canada applicants were also considered—only if their employer obtained prior approval from the PEI Office of Immigration.

Reduced Quotas = Selective Invitations in 2025

Due to reduced federal nomination allocations, the PEI PNP has become more selective this year. The province has chosen to narrow its focus to high-demand sectors, leaving out candidates in non-priority areas such as retail and general service.

The PEI Office of Immigration is currently prioritizing candidates with the following attributes:

  • High proficiency in English or French
  • Education relevant to local labor market needs
  • Skilled work experience in critical shortage areas
  • A valid job offer in PEI or prior Canadian experience

What It Means for You

If you’re a skilled worker with experience in healthcare, trades, trucking, or processing, this may be your best chance to get nominated under PEI PNP. Candidates working outside these sectors may need to wait or explore alternate immigration pathways.

Stay updated, as PEI will likely continue targeted draws throughout the year focusing on labor market alignment.
