New Francophone Immigration Strategy For Calgary

Posted by in CIC News, on March 14, 2019

Calgary has been selected as a welcoming Francophone community as part of Canada’s Action Plan for official languages. Under this program, 14 communities across Canada will receive funding so more programs and support can be established to help French-speaking newcomers. This will help newcomers feel welcomed and they can easily integrate into Francophone minority communities. The new francophone immigration was launched to increase the proportion of French-speaking permanent residents in francophone minority communities and to support the integration of those newcomers. Having a French integration pathway is critical for the growth and development of Francophone communities.
