Prince Edward Island Conducts Its Second-Largest Immigration Draw of 2025 — 160 Skilled Candidates Invited

Prince Edward Island continues to strengthen its workforce and attract skilled talent through its provincial immigration initiatives. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) conducted its latest draw on October 17, 2025, issuing 160 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under its Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry streams.

This draw marks the second-largest round of invitations held by the province this year, showcasing PEI’s ongoing commitment to addressing labour shortages in essential industries and supporting economic growth through targeted immigration.

Overview of the October 17 Draw

This draw focused on candidates already residing and working in Prince Edward Island, specifically those employed in occupations aligned with the province’s high-demand sectors.

Priority for International Graduates

A significant portion of invitations went to international student graduates from the following PEI-based post-secondary institutions:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
  • Holland College
  • Collège de l’Île

These graduates were prioritized for their potential to contribute long-term to PEI’s labour market, given their education, local experience, and familiarity with the province’s workforce needs.

PEI’s 2025 Immigration Performance

As of October 26, 2025, the PEI PNP has issued a total of 1,081 Invitations to Apply through its various provincial immigration draws.
This marks the tenth draw conducted by the province this year, reaffirming PEI’s consistent immigration activity and strong alignment with its labour market objectives.

Sectors Targeted in 2025

Due to limited nomination spaces and a high volume of applications, PEI’s immigration strategy for 2025 focuses primarily on attracting candidates in the following key sectors:

  • Healthcare
  • Trades
  • Manufacturing

According to the Office of Immigration (OIM), individuals working in sales and service sectors may face lower chances of receiving an invitation at this time, as the province continues to direct its efforts toward industries that require immediate workforce support.

Pathways and Candidate Selection Process

All draws in 2025 have been conducted under the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories—except for one, which included a candidate under the Business Impact – Work Permit Stream.

PEI operates on an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. This means that foreign nationals interested in immigrating must:

  1. Submit an online EOI profile indicating their preferred stream.
  2. Enter the candidate pool, where they are ranked based on multiple selection factors.
  3. Receive an invitation if their profile aligns with provincial labour priorities and meets the required score thresholds.

The province evaluates candidates based on:

  • Language proficiency (English/French)
  • Education background and field of study
  • Relevant work experience
  • Alignment with PEI’s strategic labour priorities
  • Employment connections, such as a valid job offer or prior Canadian experience

Building a Future in Prince Edward Island

Through its targeted approach, the PEI PNP continues to serve as a key pathway for skilled workers and international graduates seeking to build their future in Canada’s smallest yet economically vibrant province. With strong employment opportunities in healthcare, trades, and manufacturing, PEI remains an appealing destination for immigrants who aim to contribute to its growing communities.
