Newfoundland & Labrador issues biggest NLPNP round since July, 330 ITAs sent this week

Newfoundland and Labrador’s immigration office has ramped up provincial selections this week, issuing a total of 330 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). The invitations were distributed in a roughly 2:1 split — 220 through the NLPNP and 110 through the AIP — marking the province’s heaviest NLPNP intake since July and its largest AIP issuance since late September.

What happened this week

  • Total ITAs issued: 330
    • NLPNP: 220
    • AIP: 110
  • This round represents the highest NLPNP invitation count since 10 July 2025, and the biggest AIP issuance since 26 September 2025.
  • So far in 2025 Newfoundland and Labrador has run 13 draws across the NLPNP and AIP, issuing 2,473 NLPNP invitations and 990 AIP invitations year-to-date.

Why this matters

Provincial invitations are the first step: an ITA lets a candidate submit a provincial nomination application (or, for AIP, the employer-driven pathway application). A nomination then supports a federal permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Because some invited applicants do not complete their files or are refused, provinces often issue more ITAs than their formal nomination allotment — but invitations are still the critical entry point for candidates aiming to settle.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s current provincial allocation for 2025 stands at 2,525 nomination spaces: 2,050 for NLPNP and 475 for the AIP. The province negotiated an increase earlier in the year (an additional 1,050 NLPNP spots), which has supported these higher-intake rounds.

Context: Bigger picture for 2026

Federal changes announced for 2026 — specifically a substantial increase in PNP admissions targets to 91,500 nominations nationwide — mean provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador are likely to receive larger allocations next year. That would allow continued higher-volume draws and more opportunities for temporary residents and overseas applicants to be selected for provincial nomination.

Who benefits and what to watch

  • Candidates currently living and working in Newfoundland and Labrador (including international graduates and temporary workers) are prime beneficiaries: many PNP streams prioritize in-province experience and local employer ties.
  • Employers and regional communities stand to gain workforce support in priority sectors as provincial draws continue.
  • Applicants abroad should monitor provincial announcements closely — NLPNP does not typically publish stream-level breakdowns for each draw, so candidates should keep documents and employer confirmations current.

Practical next steps for candidates

  1. If you received an ITA: prepare and submit your complete provincial application quickly; keep evidence of employment, language results and settlement plans up to date.
  2. If you’re in the NLPNP/EOI pool: review your profile and ensure contact details, job offers, and credential documents are accurate.
  3. If you are outside without a local tie: consider pathways such as Atlantic employer endorsements or targeted provincial streams that suit your occupation.

Quick facts

  • NLPNP ITAs in 2025 so far: 2,473
  • AIP ITAs in 2025 so far: 990
  • Newfoundland & Labrador 2025 nomination allocation: 2,525 (2,050 NLPNP; 475 AIP)
  • Federal PNP admissions target for 2026: 91,500 (up from 55,000 in 2025)

Bottom line

This week’s surge in invitations reaffirms Newfoundland and Labrador’s active role in Canada’s provincial immigration landscape. With federal PNP targets increasing for 2026, the province is positioning itself to nominate more newcomers — especially those who already live, work or study in the province and can settle quickly into local communities.
