CANADA NOW OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM 20 OCTOBER’ 2020

Posted by in CIC News, on October 5, 2020

International Students from all over the world, are welcomed to pursue their studies in Canada from 20th Oct onwards if their DLI i.e. Designated Learning Institution has made a government approved covid 19 plan approved.  Designated learning institutions (DLIs) include universities, colleges, and all other educational institutions which have received the approval to welcome international students.

In late September, this year, IRCC has approved around 56,000 study visas. This is in place after the approval by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

The new list of DLI’s with approved Covid 19 readiness plan will be available by October 20 or before.

Which Students can enter Canada?

All international students who have enrolled in approved institutions can enter Canada, no matter where they are travelling from or when their study permit was approved. However, to meet all requirements and receive necessary permissions is mandatory before they plan their travel.

The amended travel approvals also applies to students with spouses, common-law partners, dependants or guardians of minor international students. But, a quarantine plan of 14 days is required. The change does not affect persons holding study permits who are already in Canada.

Is my university on the approved list?

The official website states: “The list of DLIs with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan in place will be posted on IRCC’s web page for international students affected by COVID-19 restrictions and updated regularly as provinces and territories identify additional schools.”
