IRCC provides update on impact of labour disruption

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Federal Government of Canada came to an agreement after a strike lasting from April 19th to May 1st. The strike had an impact on over 155,000 public servants, including those of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

IRCC gives an update on impact of labour disruption

  1. If you are in Canada, your in person immigration related appointments were cancelled due to strike are in process of being rescheduled.
  2. IRCC has resumed processing domestic passport applications. Your applications will be processed and there is no need to reapply. Also you will get real-time updates.
  3. If you applied for passport prior to strike, the application is being processed and you may contact passport office to request that your application be prioritized.
  4. Due to the impact of strike IRCC experiencing high volume of applications. In results, delay in applications to be expected even for those are being prioritized.
