Prince Edward Island holds eighth Provincial Nominee Program draw of 2025

On August 21, 2025, Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its eighth Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of the year, inviting 132 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

This round of invitations primarily focused on candidates already residing and working in the province—particularly those engaged in sectors that are vital to PEI’s labour market and long-term economic growth.

Priority given to high-demand sectors and graduates

The PEI PNP emphasized individuals employed in healthcare, trades, and manufacturing, which the province has identified as critical sectors.

Additionally, international student graduates from select institutions were given priority consideration, including:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
  • Holland College
  • Collège de l’Île

This marks the third time in 2025 that PEI has included these targeted selection factors in its draws.

Results of the latest draw

The invitations were issued under the following streams:

  • Labour Impact
  • PEI Express Entry

Breakdown of Invitations:

  • Labour Impact / Express Entry: 132 invitations

So far this year, a total of 792 invitations have been issued through the PEI PNP. Of these:

  • 791 invitations have been extended under the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.
  • 1 invitation has been issued through the Work Permit Stream.

Pathways to immigrate to PEI

The PEI PNP offers several immigration categories, including:

  • Labour Impact (Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, International Graduate)
  • PEI Express Entry
  • Business Impact (Work Permit Stream)

Eligibility requirements vary by stream, but all candidates must be admissible to Canada and, if applicable, meet federal Express Entry requirements.

How candidates are selected

To be considered for nomination:

  1. Candidates must create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile on PEI’s official portal.
  2. EOIs remain valid for six months.
  3. The PEI immigration office reviews the pool and invites individuals who best match the province’s current labour market and economic needs.

Those invited can then apply for a provincial nomination. Once approved, they become eligible to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.
