
Alberta Holds Another Draw for Law Enforcement Professionals Under AAIP
Alberta continues its targeted efforts to strengthen its police services through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The province conducted a new draw under its Law Enforcement Pathway on August 19, 2025, issuing invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
This marks the fifth draw of 2025 under this specialized pathway, which was created to help address Alberta’s law enforcement recruitment needs and improve public safety.
Details of the August 19, 2025, Draw
- Invitations were issued under the Alberta Express Entry stream – Law Enforcement Pathway.
- Fewer than 10 invitations were sent out.
- The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)-like score was just 45, making it one of the lowest score cut-offs in 2025 for an AAIP draw.
What is the Law Enforcement Pathway?
- Introduced in June 2024 by AAIP.
- Designed to support Alberta’s police services in fighting crime, improving community safety, and filling recruitment gaps.
- To qualify, candidates must:
- Have a valid job offer from an Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police member.
- Meet all federal Express Entry eligibility requirements.
Eligible Occupations for Nomination
- Commissioned and non-commissioned police officers in public protection services.
- Police investigators and other investigative occupations.
- Specialized law enforcement professionals in related fields.
Nomination Quota and Progress in 2025
- Total allocation for 2025 under the Law Enforcement Pathway: 20 nominations.
- Nominations issued so far: 11.
- Remaining nominations to be issued this year: 9.
- Active Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in the pool: 123.
