Canada Express Entry: Predictions for September 2025 Draws and CRS Cut-Offs

Canada’s Express Entry system continues to be one of the most crucial pathways for skilled workers aiming to secure permanent residency (PR). As of September 1, 2025, applicants and immigration professionals are closely watching for the next set of draws after the most recent one on August 19, which targeted healthcare professionals.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has maintained a category-based approach this year, prioritizing sectors facing workforce shortages such as healthcare, trades, education, and French-language proficiency. With 32 draws already completed in 2025, the upcoming September rounds are expected to play a key role in balancing admission targets for 2026.

Key Highlights of Express Entry Draws in 2025

  • A total of 32 draws have been conducted this year until August 19, issuing 55,820 Invitations to Apply (ITAs).
  • Draws have been focused on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Category-Based Selection (CBS) pathways.
  • French-language draws were significant in early 2025, with more than 21,000 ITAs already issued—exceeding this year’s quota.
  • Healthcare draws have consistently lowered their CRS cut-offs (from 510 to 470) while issuing larger ITA volumes.
  • Education and trades remain underrepresented so far, creating expectations for upcoming September rounds.

Why September Draws Are Important

  • ITAs issued in September will largely contribute to 2026 PR admissions, due to processing times of 4–6 months.
  • Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan (2025-2027) sets a target of around 395,000 PR admissions in 2025, with slightly fewer in subsequent years to ensure sustainable settlement.
  • September could see 4–5 draws, issuing nearly 8,000 ITAs across multiple categories.

Predictions for September 2025 Draws

  • Trades Category Draw
    • Most likely in early September, since no ITAs have been issued yet under this stream in 2025.
    • Could invite 3,000–4,000 candidates, with a predicted CRS cut-off between 450–470.
    • Occupations expected: carpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders, and cooks.
  • Healthcare Category Draw
    • Possible continuation with 1,000–2,000 ITAs and CRS around 470, targeting the remaining quota.
  • Education Category Draw
    • Likely CRS cut-off of around 480, with invitations for teachers and educators to address growing demand in Canadian schools.
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
    • CRS cut-offs expected in the 520–540 range, especially for candidates with strong work experience in Canada.
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
    • Small draws of 200–300 ITAs with high CRS cut-offs (750+) are expected to continue.

Advice for Candidates

  • Maximize CRS scores through language tests (IELTS/TEF at CLB 9+) and Educational Credential Assessments (ECAs).
  • Explore PNP nominations for an additional 600 CRS points.
  • Verify NOC codes for trades and healthcare roles to ensure eligibility.
  • Keep profiles updated to capture opportunities in sector-specific draws.
