The AIP is a federal-provincial partnership aimed at attracting skilled foreign workers and international graduates to Canada’s Atlantic provinces — Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada.
  • The job offer must be endorsed by the provincial government.
  • Must have minimum work experience or be a recent graduate from an Atlantic post-secondary institution.
  • Applicants can obtain a two-year work permit while their PR application is in process.

  2. Get the offer endorsed by the province.
  3. Apply for permanent residence through the federal government.
  4. Begin working in Canada while PR is being processed using a special work permit.

Why This Update Matters

  • Strong Provincial Performance: Over 2,800 invitations have been issued in 2025, reflecting Newfoundland and Labrador’s proactive approach to immigration.
  • AIP Growth: The increase in AIP invitations shows employers’ growing involvement in the hiring process.
  • Expanded PNP Allocations: Securing additional nomination slots ensures more opportunities for skilled professionals to obtain PR.
  • Population & Labour Support: Both pathways aim to support the province’s labour market and economic growth while addressing demographic challenges.
