Prince Edward Island Conducts Its Largest Immigration Draw of 2025

Prince Edward Island has carried out its most significant immigration selection round of the year, marking a major moment in the province’s ongoing efforts to attract and retain skilled talent.

In its latest draw, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invited 190 candidates under the Labour and Express Entry category. This represents the highest number of invitations issued in any single draw so far in 2025.

The province placed strong emphasis on candidates who are already contributing to the local workforce, especially those employed in priority sectors. French-speaking applicants and international graduates were also given notable consideration, reflecting the province’s goal of strengthening both linguistic diversity and long-term labour market stability.

Highlights From the November 20 Draw

The November 20 selection round was centred on applicants who demonstrate immediate and long-term economic value to Prince Edward Island. Invitations were extended to:

  • Workers employed with companies in PEI
  • French-speaking candidates with competitive profiles
  • International graduates from key Designated Learning Institutions, including:
    • The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
    • Holland College
    • Collège de L’Île

Throughout 2025, PEI has followed a careful strategy of issuing invitations exclusively through its Labour and Express Entry categories. The province has consistently focused on individuals who already have strong ties to PEI—either through employment or recent graduation.

End-of-Year Draw Approaching

PEI remains the only province in Canada that publishes an annual schedule of expected immigration draws, providing transparency for applicants planning their pathways.

The December 18 round will be the final scheduled draw of the year.
Although PEI has already hosted one unscheduled draw this year—on October 27— it remains uncertain whether another unexpected round may occur before year-end.

Understanding the PEI Expression of Interest System

PEI ranks applicants using an Expression of Interest (EOI) model designed to identify profiles that align with the province’s economic and social priorities. The scoring system evaluates:

  • Proficiency in English or French
  • Educational background and field of study
  • Work experience, particularly in high-demand sectors
  • Alignment with current provincial labour market needs
  • Employment prospects, including job offers or prior Canadian experience

Applicants with strong EOI scores and demonstrated potential for successful settlement are most likely to be invited.
